Interesting experience last night
by Gojira_101 ini was hired to interpret for a church event in a neighboring town last night.
i did have a brief moment of thinking demon's would be jumping out to get me as i walked through the front doors of the church, hahahaha, not really, but it did feel awkward at first and i stuck very close to the other interpreter who asked me to help her.
i was definitely out of my comfort zone.. anyway last night i met james walker from the watchmen fellowship.

Rick Simmons Received Honor of the 2013 Trial Lawyer of the Year Award
by Gayle in"the rick simons case is truly exceptionaland for that, rick received the honor of the 2013 trial lawyer of the year award.
this case, involving the jehovahs witnesses, was originally referred to rick by my good friend and pretty much the first client of cogent legal ever, ed casey.
ed referred the case since rick had done a number of church molestation cases in the past, and there are issues with those cases that make them difficult.

UN (again!)
by zound inhi guys, i'm new to the site.. sorry to bring up an old topic.
but just wondering if anyone knew if the brochure referred to in the infamous un letter of 2004 is available to read anywhere?
this is the brochure of 1991 (before the supposed "changed language that we cannot subsribe to").

Interesting Lady Lee. I have't heard those other reasons thanks for the info.....
Any JW other then the GB joining the UN for what ever reason, will find themselves before a JC.
Try joining a church to use free day care so you can go out in service. Try joining the YMCA just to use the swimming pool and see how fast you'll be having a talk with an elder. Try decorating your house in Christmas lights just to be neighbor friendly and see how that goes over.

Most people who are using FB, Forums, other sites (fashion, banking, amazon, etc) know they need to verify with an email, be it alias for not. They do this as security making sure a person opening any site account is the same person who's going to use that account. It's also security from phishing which happens with web programs bought by spammers or phishers (looking to hack)......
For instance. I recive an email from a site I joined asking for added personal info, which either I already ansewered on the site, or not required. But this email sent is a phising email trying to get personal information by fraud. If I hadn't given an email to be sent back to me, I would have no idea someone is trying to hack my account. That is only one of many reason for virfied emails either anony or not.....it serves various protections.....and there is no law stating you cannot use sub or anony email accounts.....

You can gently ask why and inforce with a non judgemental attitude.
It's always good to ask questions first and wait for answers. Then at least you have a base to work from. As Parali mentioned it could be a number of reasons. A boy, guilt, moms influence, etc.
Also, though you've faded, remember in JW world you're the head of the household. As parent and head you do have major influence. I found when I approach my un baptized publisher daughter in a gentle manner, as a concerned parent first (bringing up nothing re WTS), it usually desolves anti WTS fears (can help w/wifes fears too).
She's too young for you to approach her from this angle....it will also make you look anit WTS to your wife.....". I am looking for any good points I can bring out about the baptismal questions that she will be asked that will make her think."
I would suggest this type of reasoning. Baptizim is a serious commitment like marrige. You can ask if she's feels she's ready for marrige? Wait for answer. Then ask why she feels she's that way (letting her "hear" her own answers). When she's finished you can now add other issues she may have missed. You can also inforce she has plenty time, and "pressure" in doing anything in life, can lead to making choices that lead to problems and stressful situations (giving examples she can understand and she can relate to). You'll also have more of a heartfelt/deeper conversation instead of a dictating one.
If you need to pull out this card, you can mention mistakes now made as an unbaptized youth doesn't hold the same consequence as a baptized one. Right now you as her father help with assisting her with mishaps. Once she gets baptized a whole other dynamic is added where elders get involved and we all know how those issues turn out. You can also bring out how even law enforcement views under 18 as a trial and error stage. After 21 then you're considered an adult with heavier penalties.
Good luck! You sound like an awesome dad

Yes, zound, that is yet another excuse that came out of the WTS camp.
(NOTE: I have to find the official link/NGO criteria for the UN which I had, but for now go to the UN site or do a search and you'll be find the info there.)
NGO association criteria:
By accepting association with DPL/NGO, the WTS agreed to meet criteria for association, including support and respect of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations
Watchtower was associated with NGO and to become associated required the Watchtower to accept the following:
- that the NGO share the ideals of the UN Charter;
- have a demonstrated interest in United Nations issues and a proven ability to reach target or specialized audiences, such as educators, media representatives, policy makers and the business community;
- have the commitment and means to conduct effective i nformation programs about UN activities by publishing newsletters , bulletins and pamphlets, organizing conferences, seminars and round tables; and enlisting cooperation of the media.
(NOTE BELOW: That's when the WTS started printing Pro UN propaganda in the Awake. )
In 2001, the Awake of July 22 discusses the benefits of volunteering for the United Nations and their need for more volunteers.
The Awake! 2000 December 8 devoted a number of pages to discussing the fine efforts of the United Nations.The Awake! 1998 November 22 also devoted several pages to discussion of the United Nations, including praising the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

If you scroll down on this link this letter from the UN states the NGO has not changed since 1991.....Plus, one does not have to be a member of NGO to use the UN Library...
scroll down the link and you'll find it.

Is this what you're looking for?
This letter issued by the WTS states the UN changed rules to use their Library in 1991:
